Why choose a vellum menu?
The semi-transparent nature of vellum (also known as tracing paper or translucent card) creates a layered effect, allowing your chosen backing colour to subtly show through. This gives each menu depth, softness and sophistication, while keeping the focus on the meal itself.
Customisable to match your theme
We offer a wide choice of backing card colours so you can perfectly match your wedding palette. Whether you want natural tones, bold colour pops or soft pastels, there’s something to suit every style. You can also choose a tassel in a coordinating colour and select either gold or silver grommets to finish the look.
Each vellum layer is custom printed with your chosen wording, font and colour, and can include guest names for an extra personal touch.
What are grommets, eyelets and rivets?
These terms are often used interchangeably in the craft world, but they aren’t quite the same:
Grommets (which we use) are two-piece fasteners made from durable metals like brass or stainless steel. They’re pressed through a punched hole to neatly hold the layers together, with a clean finish on both sides.
Eyelets are a single piece of metal that folds into place, usually more suited to fabric than card.
Rivets are solid and don’t have a hole through the middle, so they’re less common for menus.
At Vintage Prints, we use high-quality grommets because they offer the most secure and elegant finish. Plus, they allow you to thread twine or ribbon through if you’d like to add an extra decorative detail.
