Lovingly handmade in the UK, we have a name card style to suit every occasion, from botanical to bohemian. As a rule of thumb, place cards for weddings need to be large enough so an individual can spot their place at the table, but not so big that they sit awkwardly amongst the glassware, cutlery, crockery, and other decorations. At Vintage Prints, our name cards are tented to make them easier to read and measure approximately 9 x 3.3 cm when folded.
Although it can be tempting to leave ordering place cards until every guest has returned their RSVP, this might be cutting it too fine — after all, you don't want to be sitting around nervously checking tracking numbers a week before your big day. And, if you buy them at the same time you order your wedding save the dates, invitations and other stationery, you'll also save money on shipping.
Make things simple by writing both the individual's first and last names on your wedding place cards, as this avoids any confusion with duplicate names. Don't feel like you need to go overly formal and include titles, although it might be nice to include the person’s role for the day such as Mother of the Bride or Bridesmaid. For smaller celebrations, you might want to consider writing the family term you know your relative by, like "Nana" or "Gramps", as this adds a lovely, personal touch. And always find out the names of your guests’ plus-ones, instead of just putting a generic label, so they feel part of the day, too.
Handwriting your guests’ names makes your place cards even more special and unique, although, do remember the text needs to be clear and legible, so people can read them even when the lights go down and the disco gets started. Or, if you would sooner save yourself the hassle, choose from our wide range of fonts and Vintage Prints will do the hard work for you. .
Your wedding place cards are guaranteed to become a wonderful memento your guests will want to take home and treasure, so why not get the whole look with our matching, customisable wedding stationery collections?
