Blind debossing is a traditional technique where your design is pressed directly into the card using a custom made metal plate and high pressure. Rather than adding ink or foil, the detail is created purely through the impression itself, leaving a soft, indented finish that catches the light beautifully. It’s a subtle, tactile effect that feels refined and timeless.

We use a luxurious 300gsm cotton card in a soft creamy white, chosen specifically for how well it responds to debossing. Its slightly softer, fibrous texture allows for a deeper, more defined impression, giving the design a beautifully crisp yet gentle finish. For an even thicker, more substantial feel, you can also upgrade to a 600gsm duplexed card.

This is one of the most luxurious effects that can be applied to card. It provides subtle, understated elegance and adds a refined, timeless feel to any wedding stationery. The imprint leaves a tactile impression that catches the light gently, drawing the eye without the need for ink or foil.

Like with letterpress, a custom metal block or die is created and used to imprint text and/or design onto paper or card. Unlike foiling, no ink or foil is used. Instead, the design is pressed directly into the card using pressure, creating a soft, indented impression. The result is a beautifully clean, textured finish that relies purely on light and shadow. This means the effect is more subtle and works best on lighter card stocks where the impression can be seen clearly.

INVITATION SET

All additional cards such as RSVP, Gift Message etc can be selected within this listing. You can choose Invite, Invite +1 or Invite +2 depending on how many additional cards you require, giving you flexibility to build your invitation set in one place. Please note that additional cards are printed only and do not include debossing. If you would like debossing on any additional cards, please get in touch and we will be happy to provide a quote.

WHAT DESIGN & TEXT CAN I HAVE?

Each die/block is the full size of the card you order. The entire card is pressed from that one block. It is custom made and therefore unique to your order. You tell us what you’d like to have on the invitation, and we’ll create it. You can even include your own monogram or logo if you like. For our Bespoke designs, the debossing plate is created specifically for your order once your artwork has been approved.

MINIMUM ORDER QUANTITY

Initial setup costs for blind debossing are high as metal dies need to be made and the machine has to be calibrated to each individual design. In order to keep costs down we have a minimum order quantity of 30 for each variation (e.g., Day Invite, Evening Invite, RSVP Card, etc.)! The higher the quantity, the lower the price as initial costs are spread out more!

VARIATIONS EXPLAINED

VARYING INVITES (DAY/EVE)

If you would like both Day and Evening invitations, you can add them to your basket together to make the most of the quantity discounts, as the debossed design will be the same. If the wording changes are minimal, there will be no additional charge. If the invitations require significant changes, such as different languages or substantial layout edits, an additional editing fee may apply at our discretion.

Choose the size you’d like your invite to be from a Mini A6 through 5x7” to A5.

CARD TYPE & DUPLEXING

You can also upgrade to a duplexed card, creating a thicker 600gsm weight for an even more substantial feel. As blind debossing relies on light and shadow rather than colour, lighter card tones provide the best result.

ENVELOPE OPTIONS

We are always on the lookout for the best envelopes we can find at competitive rates. It is not always possible to have envelopes that match the card colour so please get in touch if you cannot see the colour you would like. Custom-made envelopes that are not normally kept in stock are available for a surcharge. Please contact us for availability and pricing. Our cream envelopes are the ones that compliment our Soft Cream Cotton card.

*Premium White Peel & Seal Envelopes cannot come with envelope liners as they are a different shape. If you would like white envelopes with envelope liners, please select the Standard V-flap White.

As with card stock, manufacturers do occasionally change availability without prior notice or sadly go into administration. Card and paper supplies can therefore change without warning or be unavailable. Colour shades can also vary from batch to batch. We will let you know if something suddenly becomes unavailable.

ADDRESSED INVITATION ENVELOPES

To save you the time of addressing each envelope by hand, select this option and have us do the hard work for you. All we need is a spreadsheet or table with all the guest names and addresses. Each line on your spreadsheet represents one envelope. Each column on your spreadsheet represents one line on the envelope. Please ask us for instructions if unsure.

MATCHING ENVELOPE LINERS

Envelope liners can be customised to match your design. Or pick any other design from our website to compliment your invitation design. Please note that they do not include debossing.

MATCHING STICKERS OR WAX SEALS

We can create matching stickers or provide wax seals to add that little extra something to your invitation envelopes. Please note that these do not include debossing.

This is where you can write any notes about your order. If you prefer you can email it to us afterwards at your convenience. Any attachments or images will need to be emailed to us separately.

QUANTITY

In order to keep costs down we have a minimum order quantity of 30 for each variation (each block or die is unique). Should you ever need reprints, please contact us for a separate quote.

A5 is the largest and twice the size of A6
5x7” is our medium size
A6 is the smallest and is half of an A5
C5 envelope fits an A5 card
5x7” envelope fits a 5x7” card
C6 envelope fits an A6 card

‘Create’ your invite pack yourself by selecting all the elements you require from the various listings. Click on the information button for details of each option or check the Product Information tab where everything is explained in great detail. Either include the information for your cards with the order or email it to us afterwards at your convenience. If you’re unsure about anything, please just email or phone us and we’ll be happy to help.

PROOFS
Once we receive your order a member of our design team will create electronic proofs using the information you have supplied usually within 2 - 3 working days although this can take slightly longer during busy periods. The proofs will be emailed to you. We do not limit the number of changes you can make to your proofs within reason. Once you are happy with them, let us know and we will send them to print. Once you have approved the proof, it cannot be changed so it is important you check it very carefully and that you are completely happy with the design. Please note that these are hand pressed so the design may not always be in the same precise position on every item as subtle movement can occur during pressing.

Nothing goes to print without your approval. If after placing an order you haven’t heard from us within 3 working days, please get in touch.

TURNAROUND
These take longer to produce as there are several processes to go through. First, we create the design. We then have a metal block made. Once the block/die arrives we can start the printing process. The invitations are printed by hand, one at a time. Please allow a total of 3 weeks for them to be ready to dispatch. If you need them sooner, there is an option to add Priority Processing to the order during checkout. The order will then be processed as quickly as possible and be prioritised at each stage.

Please be aware that foil writing is always harder to read due to its beautiful shine. We are happy to put any information you like on the cards but do not take responsibility for them being hard to read. The more text that is added, the smaller the text, particularly on mini cards. We recommend viewing proofs at actual size.

Please note that once we send foiling orders to print, the order cannot be changed! By sending them to print you confirm that all the details are correct on the proofs. Proofs are final and you are responsible for checking each and every detail.
